first sportsbike

hello all,
i have recently passed my das and am looking for a sportsbike around the £3000 mark, i've test rode a couple but due to a little inexperience couldn't really differentiate between them i know i'm looking for, ideally a 600cc machine, the problem is my size i'm 6'2 and 18 stone!! so r6 etc is to small, i rode a cbr 600 but again i was a little cramped. does anyone have any suggestions for a big 600 sports bike in my price range, i could possibly stretch to £3500.

Have you considered something other than a newish 600? Some older bikes are physically bigger but not much of a difference in power - early blade, ZX7R....?

CBR600FX ? , they seem to fit anybody , with the RR being a bit more cramped, or a GSXR600 SRAD they were really really big, bit cramped though,

EDIT I mean physically big big but the position is a bit harsh.

im 6 foot 2 aswell. sports bike are going to be cramped alot of the time. have you sat on a ZXR400? bit more ideal for someone whos just passed cheaper insurance and for a 2003 immaculate one it can cost up to 3000 but you can find a bargain i heard they are a big 400 and it doesn't looked cramped at all i even seen a guy whos 6 foot 4 on one so it must be pretty good

Dont mean to be harsh...

But 6' 2 and 18 stone you will find most sporty bikes uncomfortable. But like a chap said before, the older bikes are a fair bit bigger particularly the old ZX6s.

As for newer ones, if you really wanted a sporty bike cbr or gsxr may be better as theyre riding positions are as extreme or perched as say a daytona or an r6.

If you go for another test ride, try doing a fair few miles in the time you even if you have to blast up the motorway and back. Get a feel for how much you can endure for your height as for most bikes you will struggle to get behind the screen or fairing.

SV650 is quite a long bike and stretches you out and has quite a high screen so that may be better for your height travelling over a longer distance.

But if your just doing a few miles a weekend, what the hey, get what ever you want, you wont be on it long enough for it to annoy you Smile

Why a sportsbike?

If its the fairing then have you considered the SV650, Hyosung GTR650, Honda CB500s, Kawaski GPZ500s or Suzuki GS500f

Not one of the bikes listed above fails to break the ton and not one of them posts a 0-60 time slower than 5 seconds.

However they are all better first big bikes than a sports 600 or thousand.

hi im 6ft6 just got a triumph tt600!!its fine and i rode a r6 and was ajoke!!they cheap to buy cheap to insure and a little differant just get one after 02!
