when do insurance companies get details of new models

I was thinking about this, if I got a new model such as the 2006 R6, Daytona 675, 2006 Fazer 1000. When would the insurance companies have their detail so I could phone around for quotes, I would assume it would be before you could buy one but how long before? Would it be for example after their official release at a bike show ?

not always before. our systems take forever to update. and i had someone after a quote for a fiat panda when they'd been out for 2 months, they werent on our system.

but they can always get underwriting to give them a risk code or edit a bike. (say quote you on a kwak zx6r as they may rate it the same risk, then ammend the name manualy to daytona 675)

call and ask is the best thing. it will vary from company to company.
