Someone sent me this today,
I thought it was rather good

IF I KNEW.

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time
I could spare an extra minute,
to stop and say "I LOVE YOU"
instead of assuming you would know I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an overnight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you",
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day.

That you didn't take extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank You," or "It's OK"
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

While I agree with the sentimnet (and is something I should do more)... it annoys me that such things get associated with 11/09/01.
I forget the exact figures, but I had a look around for a 'discussion' on another forum and it turns out that a *lot* more people are killed by intentional firearms killing every year in the US than were killed in the twin towers.
People do die everyday and we are lucky that we live where we do in that we are generally quite well 'protected', however much we moan about cagers.

I don't have a problem with the poem on it's own...
It just annoyed me the number of cheesy 'oh how terrible' and 'wouldn't it have been great if'... emails that flew around after 11/09/01.
People Die
That's Life

A lot more people died in Afghanistan due to ours and the Americans actions than were killed in in the twin towers, but they were 'bad', far away, or just too different to count Crying or Very sad

.

anyway... sorry, I'll shut up and go and do some work now.
(my own experience may have led to me taking a more objective view to life/death)

my little sister died when she was only 5,
i friend on mine was killed when he came off his motorbike,
all in the space of a few years.

i'm with g. far too much hype about 11th september. you can be sure it wouldn't be so big if it happened in england, france or germany. if it was south africa no one would remember, same goes for the twin towers in malaysia.
fucking yanks always overreact. and now 11th sept is coming up again as it will every yar for the next 50 years, we'll have it all shoved in our faces once again.

It's just trying to make you live for the day.
Come on people lets not rant, I'm not tryin to be cocky or anything cuz in my opinion too many people die every day!

Its a great piece of poetry and helps us to appreciate what we have in our lives now!!

The poem was written my a spouse who lost her husband in the towers, which is where it got it's association from. Though, as always, it stretches further than intended.
Life's short, live it up. And when the end comes.... pray you're wearing clean undies.
