Scooter restriction on import, what do i do

Just bought an import 125R, not RR. But found out the previous owner had restricted it to scooter class. 10hp, any ideas how to get it back to around 15hp, not bothered about full derestiction yet - little too scary - only a new rider.

If you can believe it, top speed is 50mph!!

If this sheds any light, it pulls hard up to 6000 rpm, but then it hits a brick wall - no more power. Some one said something about power valves being disconected.

Please help, from what i read this bike could be a beast!

yeh this could be true, if the power valve is diconnectred you would see no benifits from going over say 6-7000rpm.

Wow that sucks the normal restrictions are bad enough let alone more! Why didnt he just buy a scooter?

I've been trawling through the internet and i think i'm now even more confused.

Some people think it could be a rev limiter on the back of the bike next to the cdi, which I have to somehow disconect, - or the rc servo not turning which means more wire disconecting somewhere under the tank.

Your right, why the hell didn't he just get a scooter - well the nsr looks a hell of a lot smarter - who's to know it only does 50!

Them restriction's might fook the bike up seens as in can easly double 50mph

Hi

I think it is the German market that has some bikes restricted to 80kmh / 50mph. Think it is a licence or insurance thing (like the number of bikes they have of 27hp).

I presume it is restricted by some wiring from the speedo to the cdi, but that is just a guess

If the powervale's been disconected it will have loads of bottom end power and where it should open the valve at 8500rpm to give u the top end power, it will jst stay shut...
But even with the powervale shut it should do about 75mph!!
So that can't be the only thing

Check the wireing

By the way the powervale servo opens and closes a valve on the enging block JUST before it hits the exhaust. if its the same as A tzr!!

Thanks guys, getting a little clearer now.

Would replacing the cdi work, or is the restriction somewhere else if it's electronic.

Would it be easier to get a mechanic to look at it, or would I need more of a specialist.

To be honest I would take it to someone with experience of NSRs and find out how it is restricted.

It may even be worth talking to the official Honda importers as they may well be willing to tell you how to bring the engine up to UK spec
