Is it legal? I have seen plenty of learners on the road who have resized their L plates to fit the front mudguard rather than on another more "sticky out" place on the bike. Just wondering as I will be soon getting my 125 and I want to be as road legal as possible.

to be honest i would just resize it, if a copper pulls you over just tell him you didn't know and say you'll change it. make sure you do change it if he tells you to though. If your polite and honest you won't be in any trouble. Hope that helped.
(btw i have resized my plate and have never once been pulled over or anything said about it Cool )

Just so you're aware - it's 3 points for each plate that's not displayed correctly. Worth the risk?

Just pass your test - it's not hard.

Legally they have to be 7 inch square and you can get 3 points with a £60 fine for each one that isn't.

wow never knew that, well ive driven past loads of police cars and no ones pulled me or anything Neutral doesn't seem to be a risk to me from first hand experience, the plate is clearly displayed its just a tad smaller. And what coppers going to stop and get out his ruler to check anyway! Rolling Eyes

Anything less than full size is an offence, but it is better to display a 'resized' one than none at all. Very Happy

I read about a copper in the newspaper that pulled over every moped/scooter he saw and measured the L plates and gave 3 points for each that was cut down, even by a couple of millimetres.
