Was out for a hoon earlier on my usual ~40mile route around the yorkshire dales and had to go along a diversion since the main road back to harrogate from Skipton was closed. Anyway, it was just about dark and it was getting cold (I would have been home if it wasn't for the diversion being 20miles longer for me!), so I was taking it quite easy. Slowed down slightly for a junction from a 30 road going onto an NSL leading to a dual carriageway looked right before pulling out and there was no traffic at all (totally open junction), so I just carried on and started to turn left. All of a sudden my rear wheel slid what felt about 2 feet to the right of me and started to weave. It all happened in a second but I managed to stamp my foot down and the tyre regripped. My ankle got caught a little under the bike when it regripped and it hurt even with my boot on. I think if I hadn't had my boots on I would have sprained or even broken my ankle as it really twisted at it quite hard. Not really sure what caused it, probably an oil or diesel spill as there were no drains or white lines I went over.

Anyway, just a reminder, WEAR YOUR BOOTS. Ankle breaks are apparently a right PITA to heal and take much longer than your average broken bone. My boots only cost me £65 (Nitro NB-101) and have saved my ankles at least twice in a year I reckon!
