hi took my pan st1100 96 model for mot and was told bad news the exhaust is shot any one got one lying around or know where to get one as cheap as poss please got to buy boots as well?/
any ideas places to try

Just checked the place where I buy a lot of my spares... £305 just for the downpipes on the ST1100

They come up on ebay sometimes cheaper for the whole system like Item number: 220136469989 End time: 09-Aug-07 20:23:00 BST (3 days 21 hours) hope this helps I know how it feels for the exhaust to go cos mine has done the same a couple of years ago and it cost me £520 the day before I went touring on it.

Might be worth finding out if they changed they exhaust composition to stainless steel on 2000 year on bikes as they did this with the VFR. You could then acquire some parts from a breakers if the fitment remains the same. If this is true and you do this don't polish the pipes before fitting  |

Err, which bit.
You see the front bits (downpipes) are stainless and shouldn't need replacing..
It's usually the collector box that goes.
This is mild steel and it's the bit under the bike (remove the plastic belly pan). These can be replaced, although best go for a stainless one.
If the end cans are gone then these can be replaced as a pair as well (if going stainless). However, I think David Silver can supply original spec individually, but you might have to 'phone and ask. A usual option (less expensive) is get a stainless collector and use the original silencers. Then when they need replacing go for stainless with them too. Not so much a hit at one time on the wallet. Given the usual care and attention a Pan is expected to go for 150K+ miles it's quite cost effective.
For advice on the ST1100 I'd recommend searching through this site. Some good bits on there, like this exhaust thread. You could also ask the Pan Clan (web site's a bit naff for advice/queries though) or, my best advice, get in touch/join Northern Pan Riders. The guys at Northern know their stuff and can recommend places for stainless collector boxes and help with sourcing other stuff.
Motad do the silencer, phone number is 01922 714700, or enquiry form.
Their address is Unit 1, Unity Buildings, Robottom Close, Leamore Lane, Walsall WS2 7EB. However, I believe the Honda downpipes will not fit the Motad collector, so you need the lot from them (surprise).

Pic of the Motad system showing why it won't fit the Honda downpipes. Honda has 1 pipe one side and a 2 into 1 on the other. The 2 into 1 is mild steel anyhow so should be replaced with the collector.

By boots do you mean for your feet or tyres for the bike? For both my last were sourced off eBay. Some nice Bridgestone BT020. Cheaper than high street, delivered and had fitted at the next service.
