the fuel tap on my suzuki 100 has rust etc blocking it what is the best way to unblock it? as its just a field bike i don,t want to buy a new one the tank has been sitting in the rain for 6 months without the petrol cap on it,i,ve removed the tap from the tank???

Blow on it perhaps? Neutral Maybe some compressed air will do the trick unless it's really jammed in there. Try removing the catch bowl on the tap. Give the tank a thorough petrol rinse if you do remove the tank.

Pull the tank, fill with a litre or so of fuel, block off the filler and outlet, shake it around and drain, do it a couple of times to rinse out the crud from the tank.

For the petcock, put it in PRI and blow through the outlet (backflushing it) to try and blow the crap out, if blowing with your lungs doesn't clear it, gently try compressed air.
