There are a few different types of five pin relay.
You can tell by the numbering on the pins.
If it has two number 87 pins, it is a 'twin' relay, the two pins are linked together at all times and are switched on at the same time when a current is applied to pin 85.
If it has an 87 and an 87b it is a 'double' relay. The two pins are not linked when the relay is off, they switch on at the same time when a current is applied to pin 85.
If it has an 87 and an 87a it is a 'changeover' relay. Either one or the other pin is switched on at all times. 87a is on at rest, 87 is on when when a current is applied to pin 85.
Either a twin or a double relay would work fine for what you want. A changeover would not.
I doubt a satnav draws much power. Heated grips could well run down your battery if used on multiple, short runs with the lights on. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
