Is the piston still going up and down in the barrel??
Ie you can kick it over?? although it wont start?

Could be that the piston rings have seized and closed on the piston.
Therefore losing compression.
This could have happened because a loss of oil into the barrel, and the
fact you was on full throttle for 30mins......maybe...

Think keith would have a better explanation than me.

I supose if the engine wont spin round then you have seized the top end...

hope this helps a little.

yes this probably means the engine has not seized.
But if i am correct about the problem it might cost you a

new piston
Barrel
Rings
and gaskets

But i'm not too sure on this.
I think what happens is that becase the bike is reving so much that the oil
has trouble getting to all the parts, and eventually the rings dont get enough oil, and instead of springing out like there suposed to they close.
Which causes lack of compression and hence no brum brum.

Well this is my theory, but i'm sure someone has a better reason than mine.
But i'm not entily sure my self.

Bare in mind i'm 17 and not a mechanic!!!!

Full throttle for 30 mins dude, that's bad. I would expect the worst. Peds aren't very complicated so whip all the plastics off and find a baked bean can size cylinder.... that's where your piston will be Very Happy

The cylinder head will be held on by bolts, so undo these and your piston will be in there. See if it moves up and down, if it does, it might be the piston rings siezing to the piston like Scotty said.

HI

I agree with Ropehead. When you kick the engine over is it very easy to do compared to normal? If so then it is probably down on compression. Likely cause of that is a hole burnt in the piston (unlikely, normally caused by using too low a grade of fuel which isnt really an option any more with only a single grade in most places) or snapped rings. If the rings have snapped (can easily happen if the engine nips up) then you may well have damaged the bore. If the bike has a steel bore you can rebore it to a slightly larger size and put an oversize piston in it (a rebore is cheap, £20 tops really). If it has a plated bore then you will either need to get it repaired and replated (~£100) or replace it with a new / 2nd hand one. You will also need a new piston with rings, and new gaskets to reassemble it.

All in all, depending on spares prices, likely best case scenario is about £60 (doing it yourself), worst case about £400 (paying dealer).

However, it could be other problems. Is it sparking? Main bearings could have failed and left you with knackered seals, leading to it drawing air in. However, the piston / rings are the most likely problem

All the best

Keith
