Well I had my rear shock replaced after it was bottoming out everywhere, anyways long story short, my new (used) one has been doing the same for the last couple of days, so i decided to drop into a garage i use semi regularly and ask them to just make it as stiff as possible for the intrim while i find a new shock...
There was good news and bad news...
good news is my shock was fine...
Bad news is there is a blood crack in either the swingarm or the linkages (he showed me but its been a very long day and i cant remember), aparently its very rare and everyone in the workshop was like ...
So wow i suppose i am lucky as i was just gonna ride that around for the next week or two while i found a rear shock at my leisure...
They reckon it has been lowered with longer linkages at some point which has somehow made this crack more likely... Bloody sobering being told no you should absolutely not ride this bike home...
Not really asking a question here more just telling u what you already know, if it dont feel right get it at least looked at...
Im off to find a new swingarm and linkages now... |

TBH im not 100% I was more in shock as i was expecting him to go "ok thats as hard as it will go, but you really need to replace it ASAP"
Instead i hear that i coulda had a very nasty failure on the bike (and the last couple of days i really been shifting... so it woulda been a bad time for the bike to let me down) The rest is somewhat of a daze considering i then watched my mother get arresed for false accusations of racially abusing a derranged muslim woman...
From whatever it was, you know its not good when every other mechanic that happens to walk by has the same "zOMG " look on their face when shown...
I was told in no uncertain terms by a mechianic i trust that i needed a new swing arm and linkages... So my search continues... |
