I guessing like most people who read T.C's article on the "No Protection Why?" thread, I went straight onto the net looking for a good quality pair of trousers, my problem is I'm large 48" waist (yes I know I'm a fat git, should loose weight, serves me right for being tubby.......saves all the sado's wasting their time typing it)

Does anyone know where I could get kit for the larger person, I hope I'm not the only one on this forum with this problem (If thats is the case, there is no hope for me Very Happy )

I have got some waterproof over trousers, and I ride a 250 scooter with 3 wheels, but i'm guessing hitting the ground at 60, is going to be much the same as if I was riding a proper motorcycle and I dont think waterproof over trousers are going to give the same quality of protection as leather.

Grr I wanna type it.

You fat git, you should loose weight and it serves you right for being tubby Smile

Shouldnt of typed it and I wouldnt have repeated it, just became too tempting.

Frank Thomas do size 48 trousers I think, and their XXXL trousers are about that waist size. Doubt many stockists will have any in stock as, to be honest, not very many sell but any decent place should be able to order some in as long as you dont take the Pi** so take your time and decide exactly what you want, have a look at their range first. Ordering a couple of trousers shouldnt be a problem as the stockist can return them for credit.

They do 52 inch jackets as well if you need a jacket.

Saw this place advertised in MCN - might be worth a look, athough its not the best site in the world!

PS - i don't work for them/have anything to do with them - and haven't used them.

Whatever you buy off ebay (if you do) make sure it's a size larger than what you really need. I bought a XXXL jacket (54" I think) but my chest is only 48 or 50 I think. Needed bigger size for arms and shoulders, as well as extra space taken up by ce armour, fits like a glove, cost me £60 new. I guess same goes for trousers - I'm a 38 but find 40 gives me enough room to 'breathe'. Nuff said. Plenty of 2nd hand gear avail, but never seen a 48" waist before...

You could try:

https://stores.ebay.co.uk/click2buy-Leathers

Go up to '12XL' which I presume is for people like Giant Haystacks and Andre the Giant (remember them, kids? Smile )

Like APN said about going one size up for room.

It helps alot on a bike but seeing as your on a scootay you may not need to move around the bike as much.

Hi,

Try these people https://www.wownlc.co.uk/homepage.htm

They have an ebay site and I am on my 2nd pair of their leathers.

They do your size and above.

I have been down the road with these leathers in the past, the only damage was ripped off knee slider. (Total full on Knee down Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes )

I'm a lardy boy and use JTS kit.
Other than the usual zips pulls breaking off, they make reasonable leathers for the larger gentlement. Replacement pulls or keyring loops make suitable replacements. My kits now 8 years old and still going strong. The missus uses their leathers too on her bike and has no real quibbles about the quality. You need to try the kit on though, as their sizing can be a little 'out' at times.

Usually found at the big shows like the NEC or BMFs. Shops will stock it too, I think they have an up to date suppliers list on their site.

they go up to a size 10XL ( not that you will need that big ) and are a reasonable price.

I too must confess to been a porker also. Embarassed

(I just say I have a rather large fuel tank for a sex machine tbh)

But I have a 1 peice race suite from Technix, they seem to have a big range which not only have a big size but come up big also.

I think my 1 piece is a size 50 Chest. I dont know what that means in waist size but I wear anyting from a 40" weist upto a 44" dependant on where I buy. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

I think alot of Alpinestars stuff goes up to 4XL.

Your right about the TC post though, gave me a shock and I've been on the net for the past 4 days looking at new gear!
