Just on the BBC news and the website, a biker returning from the Bulldog Bash has been murdered on the M40 in Warwickshire. Shot dead apparently with the police looking at motorbike gang links as a "strong line of inquiry".

Fucking hell. That is some seriously heavy stuff.

I lived in Leamington while I was at uni and I remember there being a whole thing about "oh, leave that guy well alone - he's a biker!"

I found that funny and a bit odd. But obviously there's something deeper behind it than just the 1970s biker gangs that just used to get a bit rowdy in pubs and drive without helmets.

Murder is never good. A biker murdered is always bad news. One less brother on the road.

People dont avoid you round the leamington area if your a biker.

The guy probably upset someone at the bulldog bash and tried making a runner.

That or a wanna be hells angel decided to prove himself and go and shoot a biker.

Hated the amount of people who thought they were hells angels or part of some other biker gang who were big and powerful, cos they were always weedy little small men making empty threats in a small bike shop, not exactly big, hard or intimidating Rolling Eyes

And damnit, forgot it was bulldog this weekend, wanted to go but ended up working instead Sad

If the person that did this is lucky the cops will catch them before the HA do.

Lets leave the speculation out of this.

Somebody on a bike got shot 20 miles away from the Bulldog Bash.

I'm sure the papers will make loads out of this. Let's wait for the facts.

Cheers,

Byrnie.

Police are investigating the murder of a motorcyclist who was shot dead on the M40 in Warwickshire yesterday while returning from a motorcycle festival. The man was travelling with two other bikers on the southbound carriageway between junctions 12 and 13 near Leamington Spa when he was shot, detectives said.
Air ambulance crews treated the man at the scene, but he died soon afterwards. Warwickshire police refused to confirm if he had been a gang member, but said the possibility that biker gangs were involved was a "very active line of inquiry".

Detectives were yesterday seeking a green older Rover car following the incident.
The investigation forced the closure of both carriageways between southbound junctions 14 at Warwick and 12 at Gaydon, and northbound between 12 and 13 at Bishops Tachbrook, prompting traffic chaos, with 10-mile tailbacks. Police said the motorway was likely to remain closed overnight and part of today.

The West Midlands ambulance service said it was called to the southbound carriageway at 2.20pm. A spokesman said paramedics found a motorcyclist who had "suffered very serious injuries" and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paul Roberts, from Worthing, was driving along the M40 when the incident happened. He told BBC News: "Suddenly we had to stop ... soon other motorists were out of their cars and on the carriageway. One lady in a BMW took a first aid kit to the man who was lying on his front just next to the central reservation. It was noticeable that the man was very still and was not wearing any shoes."

Detective Superintendent Ken Lawrence said: "We want to know if any witnesses travelling on the motorway between 2.30-2.45pm were aware of a green Rover car that acted in any way unusual or strange. All I know is that it was an older Rover, a 620 probably. One or two witness accounts have mentioned this car being close to the motorcycles at the time that something clearly happened."

The victim, who has not been identified, was travelling from the Bulldog Bash motorcycle festival at Long Marston airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon, about 20 miles from the incident.

The chief organiser of the festival, Bilbo, said the man was a member of the Hells Angels. He said: "I did know him, he was 33-years-old and was a Hells Angel ... you couldn't wish to meet a better person."

Bilbo, 56, who has been member of the Wessex Hells Angels chapter for 30 years, refused to speculate on whether the man had been murdered by a rival biker gang.

"I have no idea why this would happen," he said. "It's deeply shocking. This year was a massive event and it all went off virtually trouble free. We had one mobile phone lost and that was returned."

The four-day festival which ended yesterday featured drag racing, a custom bike show and rock acts including Status Quo and The Damned. It attracted almost 30,000 people, from mainstream motorcycle clubs to smaller clubs from many countries, Bilbo said.

Six years ago three bikers from France and Canada were shot at on the M40 as they returned from the festival, and one of them required hospital treatment for leg wounds. Police at the time described it as an "indiscriminate" attack.

I'm just hoping that the angles manage to keep a grip. I dont want to see a return of the 'Angels/Outlaws politics and violence.

I'd not seen any trouble all weekend, just a load of Bikers having a really good time. All the 21st is going to be remembered for now is that this poor guy got killed on his way back.

If this guy was indeed murdered because he was a hells angel, then there are some sad, pathetic people in the world to shoot someone over that.

Now I don't know exactly what being a HA entails, but all those that I've ever met are perfectly lovely people who just love riding motorcycles.

Makes me angry that people chose to live their lives by all this 'Gang warefare' shit.

Going back years most of the trouble in this Country was spilled over from stateside chapters of the HA and the Outlaws, who again on their own are the nicest people you could want to meet and damn good people to have around when it all goes pairshaped.

The last seven or eight years the clubs have been trying to get along. I can remember being surprised at patched up senior Hells Angels being at the Rock and Blues, turns out they were there as special guests of the Outlaws.

The roots of the 1%er trouble in the states was usually territorial claims, at times most of the 1%er clubs have financed themselves through illegal activities and stepped on one anothers toes doing so.

As I understand it there is still fighting going on over drugs and territory in Canada.

Although I've only met a few, all the HA's I've met have not been involved with anything dodgy at all.

Apart from the fact that they're all major potheads, that is Very Happy

As Yambabe has stated elsewhere, there could be many reasons why a member has been murdered.

To assume that the reason is to do with drugs - when many other sectors of the population of this country could also be perceived to be involved in such things - is not only unfair, libellous, discriminatory, nobody else's business except the club's and not based on fact in this particular case.

Personally, I think the explanation for this is quite simple.

Dickhead gets hold of gun, dickhead wants to appear 'ard, dickhead shoots someone for no reason.

Simple as that.

Question Is it possible to stitch together all the threads about this subject, as its getting very tiresome jumping about from thread to thread and be pissed off and upset all at the same time.

well its started

the itv news reporter has already said that he was a hells angel, it was a big feud and of course "he was going so fast...."
and thrown in some drag and donut footage.

nobody knows anything for sure but the media is already painting him as a bad guy

anyone recognise the bike?

if a bikers bad cause hes on 2 wheels then a car driver must be twice(thrice if you count the spare and steering) as bad and an hgv driver a raging loony

thankfully, as usual channel 4 gave an open minded view of events

Why not just lock one thread and put a link to the other?

Good point, there's about 5 threads (at time of writing) now, as people can't be arsed having a look before posting a thread. Rolling Eyes
