Has anyone else ever had a visor blocker:

https://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=BLOCK

I bought one thinking it would be a good way of staying legal whilst stopping that terrible early morning glare!

Fitted it and it was too big, so i took it off to trim it down, as it said in the instructions and it has taken away the backing to the visor! Im not sure how visors work but I'm guessing it has some sort of film as i now have an area right across the visor which is dull and it has veins going off into the rest of the helmet too - completley ruined!

The blocker cost a tenner with postage and all i got was the need to replace the visor - which will cost 30 quid!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

I have emailed busters to see if they are going to take responsibility as the supplier, but am unsure where I stand at this time.

My tip - don't buy it!!!!!

Will not fade or wear out.

Enjoy 100% UV protection.

Eliminates glare.

No need to change day/night.

Cooler helmet.

Safer than sunglasses.

Fits above line of sight.

Re-usable.

No adhesive required.

Fits inside visor.

somethings not quite right there

basically no, they're not liable Sad lesson learned id say.

they're going to say some bollocks like 'by re-useable we mean that you can use it to block the sun more than once'.

just run a strip of electrical tape along the visor.
go wild and run 2 if you need. does exactly the same job, and if the glares too much just tip your head down a bit.
never had a problem with it

I think ill just get a light tinted visor instead!

I believe either the supplier or importer will be liable for the damage caused as the product was used properly and had no warnings about the possilbe damage. I have a freind who works in civil law so im gonna see what he says and what busters say first.

Light tinted visors aren't worth bothering with in my opinion. They are not much darker than a normal clear one, so I stick to either a plain clear visor or a dark tinted one as a rule.

Just buy a blackie. AS long as you aren't riding at night or in thick fog you'll probably be ok. The cops have been urged to use common sense on it lately.

I believe you can wear a tinted visor in daytime, as long as the visor doesn't say 'for competition use only' or similar, you also must carry a spare clear visor.

Best answer i can give you is get a pinlock visor and get and dark insert. I now ride with a mirror tinted visor with clear pinlock insert (never been stopped by the cops) i would much rather be able to see in the sun than ride about with a roadlegal visor being blinded. One it stops fogging up very very well and if you are getting blinded by the sun you can get a insert or get a tinted visor.

Thats just plain wrong I'm afraid. The only legal tinted visors are the light tints which aren't much different to a clear visor. Dark tints, iridium and mirror tints are illegal whatever time of day or night it is. Carrying a spare clear visor is a sensible option if you are going to be using an illegal visor on your helmet, but it will NOT stop you from getting a ticket for using an illegal visor if the officer of the law wants to nail you for it.

I use a tinted visor, and haven't been pulled by the old bill yet. Personally, if I didn't need milk bottle bottoms to see, I'ld use a clear visor and a pair of cheapo sunglasses from a market stall!

PVC tape is also good for a sunstrip, as already suggested.

Btw... by 're-useable' and 'requires no adhesive' I assume it holds on in the same way as a window clinger, or the non-sticky car tax disk holders... not sure why it would muck up the visor tho...

MattEMulsion i would rather go round with a illegal visor and be able to see than going about half blind.

By and large if you can't see the riders eyes when they are wearing the visor then it's illegal.

Just because it it stamped with 'daytime use only' doesn't make it legal to use. That is just sensible advice that the visor manufacturer chooses to write upon it. My dark tint/black Shoei visor says exactly the same, but its still illegal.

And I think you will also find that a pillion passengers helmet technically has to be fitted with a legal visor too (well if it has a visor at all) as it is covered under the same law. Think of it in the same way that a pillion passengers helmet also has to be certified to the BS/UN ECE standard to be legal to use on the UK's roads
