Odd occurence today...

While out and about on my '95 CBR600F as I pulled up to stop somewhere my bike just totally died on me. Absolutely nothing happened on pressing the start button. After trying again a short while later I could hear a kind of electrical ticking when pressing it, as if the battery was too dead. Bike had to be jump started. I let it run then tried starting again, same, jumped again. The rode home and now seems to start fine.

I have never had any kinds of problems with the bike before, and I use it all year round. Never been any electrical problems. What could cause these symptoms, for the bike just to die on me?

If a jumpstart worked fine theres a good chance that the battery could be stuffed so will need replacing. A good battery will read over 12v so charge it up, put your meter on it and see what it reads then start the bike. It should read higher 14-15v.

You can use your meter again later and see if the battery has dropped below 12v which would mean a shot battery or something draining it?

Point to mention is that I had what I thought was a good battery on my bike but the "oooomph" wasnt there to start the bike (same symptoms as yours, clicking) A new one sorted it Thumbs Up

Also check all your big connections from batt through to starter motor.

As Rit mentioned it could be a phunked battery, or a dodgy connection.
another cause could be the regulator/rectifier which would mean your battery being constantly drained.

If you put a voltmeter or multimeter on your battery and the voltage doesn't increase when you rev the engine, it could be your reg/rec thats knackered

Honda = I'd put money on the reg/rec.
