Embarassed

On the DSA booking thingy there were three options:
A (big bike)
A1 (light bike)
A2 (standard bike)
P (moped)

Thinking that the first was the DAS (i'm 18) I went for A2, and I now have the horrible feeling that it isn;t the one that lets me ride 33 bhp for two years, am I right?

A2 is the test for under 21's that lets you ride a bike of a maximum of 33bhp for 2 years, then after that any motorcycle.

A = Full liscence for 21y/o+ No restrictions
A1 = 125cc, 14.6bhp. Same as CBT, but no L plates. Not sure if you can take a pillion
A2 = Any cc, restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, then it becomes a full unrestricted licence.

GL with your test! Thumbs Up Very Happy

Hoping to do my A2 after i get paid this month (23rd).

A1 is taken on a bike somewhere between 50 and 125cc.

I believe you have to ride exactly as you would on the A2 or A test, facing exactly the same maneavours.

Passing an A1 allows you to ride any bike upto and including 125cc without L plates, use motorways and take pillion passengers.

Unlike the A2 I have never seen anything about the A1 upgrading itself to a full licence. As you've got to be at least 17 to take the A1 I can't see why anyone would take the test for A1 when for the same cost they could have an A2.

Tristan the A2 is exactly the test you wanted to book, you were quite right in thinking that A is the DAS.

Indeed, the A1 is totally pointless. It isn't much more than a CBT, and the A2 offers alot more, for the same cost.

Good-o, have some Karma I'm assuming a standard cg125 is good for the test, what with them being used by the majority of test centres.

managed to get one three weeks away, which is bloody good going, it's just in a city I've never rode in before Thinking time to book some lessons.

And naturally good luck to all the other people taking their tests in the future.

For A2 a bike needs to have less than 125ccs and be able to make 62mph so a CG125 is perfect. Thumbs Up
