Is it an add on, or a standalone game?.. not that it matters if it's coming out on the PS2 Sad.

I think that a PC version will follow...but it's probably easier to convert PS2 code into bog-standard native C++, than the other way around...

hmm...I quite like my PS2...and I quite like my PC...

If I remember, from the style of the interface of GTAIII it looked like it was made using some sort of general 'development enviroment' for consoles/PCs.

Well...PS2 games are generally coded in C++ anyway, using a PC...and yeah, it probably used an dedicated IDE, which handles all the code...however, as we all know, the hardware is different, and therefore the instructions to execute certain commands will be different. The structure of the code will the same, but they will just need to put in specific DirectX/OpenGL calls...

Unfortunately, society demands economy, which calls upon competition, which creates a wealth of different standards and specifications to which we have to follow...if only we could live in perfect harmony...<sigh>

I hate most console to PC conversions. The controls are always really basic. Try converting something like Battlefield 1942 (damn good IMO) to console, you run out of button pretty damn quick. Either that or the controls get so confusing you'd need 6 hands.

Most of the consoles have, or will have keyboard accessories, and mice...so...

Yeah, but the games will be designed to work with a pad, then map the buttons to a keyboard. You still probably won't get the scope available for a PC.

Well, I dunno, especially with all these spangly hard drives appearing for consoles, it'll soon be hard to distinguish them from PCs Confused

I kinda prefer console games 'cos they're usually more robust, 'cos the developers only have one set of hardware specs to adhere to...whereas PCs can be built to any spec, and therefore developers may have to sacrifice some time to ensuring that the game runs on as many different configurations as possible...having said that, I agree that the PC is king for strategy, FPS, and simulation games, but I feel that kinda compromises for it's general inability to host more arcadey games...Neutral

If they made games that worked properly with most of the pads out there it wouldn't be a prob.
I agree about the compatibility though. DirectX helped but there's so many chipsets for everything now.
Console are definately easier to play on. Put the disc in, play. Thou there'll be more installs coming along. You still know when you buy a game for your console it's gonna work (pretty much).

Bloody Microsoft.....
