NBR New Car - Saab

Been after a new car since coming off my bike a while back. Had a 1.3 polo but never really was that attached to it. Reliable and fairly economical but meh..

Anyways went down to birmingham a couple of months ago to pick this up:

93' with 170K on it. The roof was needing replaced, which id been told was a big and expensice job. Fortunatly a mate pointed me towards a car in glasgow with a blown motor but 12month old roof. £500 and we had an entire parts car and new roof on. Had a good laugh stripping the car down and fixing things as they came up. Cars 100x more involving and fun than the polo was!

One of the toughest cars on the road.

My first boss had one (a bit like that, but not convertible). He turned it upside down on back roads (ice). It hung suspended bonnet to boot, bank to bank across the road. He reckons if he has been in most other cars, he would have been killed.

I like Saabs

Good choice. That was the last *true* Saab. Ever since then 900s and 93s have basically been Cavaliers/Vectras in drag. That one is classic Saab.

yea the next year on they brought in the 900ng with GM on a vectra chassis.. bit interesting seeing newer, lower mileage cars for much less money

My sister had one of those as a first car. Not a convertible tho.

They are sweet motors, and IIRC at the time they were brought out you could use them in a rally competition without an additional rollcage, as they were considered strong enough not to need one!

My mum had a 900s convertible, N reg with 90k on the clock.

It was a really nice car and very well looked after. It was black and had 17 inch BBS alloys, which just set the look off.
A stunning car.

We put it on ebay and it sold within the 2nd day of advertising lol.
The roof was also not working, it would have cost £300 to fix, but we didn't have the time so it got sold that way with the various parts needed.
