Secondary hard drive

As to follow on to my previous topic, i cant be arsed to fix the computer, But want to keep my hard drive. so ive got an external hard drive enclosure, As the pc is one of them tiny del ones.

So, how do i make it boot up onto the external one? as it has Windows XP on it.

im guessing the ext drive enclosure is USB?

if so youll either need to boot in to the BIOS and change the boot order so that USB is first or if your DELL is anything like my XPS then you should have a function key option as its booting up to select the boot device. think mines is F12.

as an aside, you may encounter problems booting from XP on the external drive if its from a different PC/motherboard type. youll probably get a lot of FOUND NEW HARDWARE prompts that will be looking for drivers for the hardware thats on your DELL compared to what was in the old PC.
