It's basicaly a rubber cover to go over the remote to help you grip it better.

It looks like Nintendo is trying hard to avoid a repeat of Wii remote control injuries like it had last fall and has now started to ship a Wii Remote Jacket accessory with every new Wii remote purchased.

The new clear silicone sleeve fits over the remote control and aside from just giving you a better grip it also gives any unintended targets of a flying Wii-motes a fighting chance with it’s padded covering. This is the third addition/modification Nintendo has made to the safety features of the Wii remote after beefing up the straps and adding a clip.

i was just thinking that myself they have all your details and you console number

the wii makes a log of what game you have played and how long you played for in the message thing at the botom right of the start up screen

wonder if they will try to get any data from the console on your gaming habits when you update??
