Want to edit a DVD but its the wrong format???

Right, I have finally got the wife pole dancing on a DVD!!!!

The DVD is saved as .vob and this is not a format that is recognised by my (windows) Movie Maker.

Any ideas of how to convert or change a DVD format to be saved and then editied to a PC?

Or better still any better movie maker / editors?
