I was thinking also that a 'sticky' should be at the top of the section explaining that obviously as this is an individuals view/opinion on the machine or piece of kit. It shouldn't be taken as the gospel.

Some of these reviews would be very handy on BCF....i know more people on here, and would rather hear a review from someone who i've replied to in threads. Searching for reviews on google i often find people talking crap or forums i have to register to.

When it was tried, a long time ago, very few people bothered to write reviews. Even fewer were actually of any real value.

I'd suggest there's a better chance of success if someone takes responsibility for the project, collates and edits reviews to ensure a certain level of quality, builds up some content and shows that people will actually bother. Do it as a thread, do it as an external blog, whatever, but come up with a better case than 'this would be nice'.

All you have to do is look at 'Show & Tell' to see what happens when people are left to their own devices to submit content. Half don't bother reading the specifics on what's required so you end up with dross drowning out the good stuff.

Could be a case of, that was then, this is now?

I know there’d be some interesting stuff in there, personal views on bikes and kit would decrease the amount of threads in General bike chat i.e. “Are Ducati 748’s made of cheese?” or “Is an RS125 any good?” as they could be linked or pointed in the right direction.

Show and tell includes things like “I bought a belly pan” which I can’t always be arsed looking at. I’ve also noticed that people get ‘Bike pictures’ and show and tell mixed up.

Biking news is a right mess, threads about random deaths and the odd bike that might come out, is pretty lame.
Some sections aren’t that great, I think a review section isn’t just a nice idea, it might spur some interesting stuff.
The section would be good if it included different sub-sections for CC sizes.

perhaps a mod could change the blurb for this section from

"Make new suggestions for BCF and report any bugs / problems here."

to

"Make new suggestions and research them fully with a scenario and case study or two before you post them for BCF and report any bugs / problems here."

i thought the suggestions came from us and the mods/admin implemented them if the idea was good enough/had enough interest but i think ive yet to see anything suggested here get put in motion.

It's Korn's decision, no-one else's.

I'm just suggesting that he's more likely to go for an idea if there something backing it up. The past lack of action on people's suggestions implies that he's not been keen, so if you want something you need to persuade him that it's a go-er.

I rarely see him say anything about anything, i don't know who actually cares about what the members think. Last time i mentioned this with various other members i got the same reply from you.

Im pretty certain that there would be enough reviews to keep that section flowing.....i for one am interested in doing one about my ZX7R and how it's been for me.

*shrugs*

I'm not Korn's mother, I can't force him to sit down and work on BCF if he doesn't want to.

What I can do is try and explain why you're getting no response from him.

Since nobody but Korn can add the section, you can either keep asking and hope he reads it or you can crack on and do it in thread form so they could be moved into the section if it ever appeared.

I could maybe set up an external system to see how it goes, if people would be interested?

Not really sure why you’ve developed this kind of attitude being a mod, take me just for a minute as someone who doesn’t know Korn, or how this forum works. Being just someone who posts hundreds of messages I assume someone’s controlling the ship.

If this section itself is monitored by people who can’t do fcuk all then why is it here?

I think an external site would just be difficult, I thought just an added section would be cool on BCF.

I'm not taking an attitude, I'm pointing out that nobody *is* controlling the ship. Most people assume that somebody is actively in charge, then get pissed off when their pleas for change are ignored. I'm letting you know that currently that is not the case and therefore it's unlikely your request will be granted.

The section is here because the only person with the power to remove it doesn't wish to do so.
