time for piston and piston rings change, your carb mixture setting might need setting again, do it fast before it seizes. Very Happy

How many miles(KM) has it done on that top end ? Suppost to rebuild every 7,000(KM). Listen to the engine at idle and rev in up to around 9,000 a few times. Noisy piston slap ? Check spark plug ect ect..

General things to give clues to a problem.

the previous owner said that it had a top end rebuild bout 1000 miles ago, so it shouldnt be piston unless it was fitted wrong or was just crap in the first place.

there arnt any modifications i know apart from a sports exhaust but i've only had the bike a few weeks. im ringing the previous owner tomorrow to see where he had the rebuild done and what mods there are.

it wouldn't just be a blockage in the exhaust by any chance??? Confused

cheers for your help guys

it may not have been run in properly causing it to sieze by damage to the top end. or the carb may not be jetted properly

wooo i win! check the carbs while its in mate and tune them in to the exhaust u've got, stay clean of crappy air filters you dont need, this throws off the air to petrol to 2 stroke oil mixture and could starve the engine of vital oil. you need plenty of smokey oil in a 2 stroke, gotta love that smell Very Happy

a sports exhaust will require you to fit new jets to maintain a correct mixture.
if the guy says its had a rebuild 1k ago do you have proof, reciepts and such?
you should only use fully synth 2 smoke oil in the rs.

the checking of the plug is wise but do you know what your looking for? check the colour of the plug.
does it have the right plug?

do a compression test on it. always a wise move as that would give you a very good indication of whats going on. takes 5 mins to do and 20 mins getting to your plug port to do it Smile probebly cost you £30 unless you know someone with a tester.

have fun
