Stephen are you sure your not meant to do a cbt on a geared bike if youve only done it on a 50cc scooter?? I dont know how the law works because ive not been in that situation, but i cant see you being allowed to ride a geared nsr if you done your test on an automatic??

Could someone fill me in please.

I did my test today, and my CBT was done on a moped (and i was 16)

Tin I am not saying I need 160mph performance, I was just making a point. The police say anyone caught at more than a ton is instant ban, so 110mph can get you banned, right?

110mph with a cop car after you, you're gonna get caught 90% of the time, coz a standard panda car will be right on your ass, even they don't run out of steam at 110mph.

If the bike will do 160mph and accelerate a lot faster, then maybe you will escape a ban Laughing

OK Scoob, I'll let you off this time Wink

As for the piggies, different authorities have different rules...apparently, in Wiltshire, the coppers aren't allowed to chase you at over 85mph...Twisted Evil

Hi Guys,
Couple of points from the above posts...
As an ex Artic driver - DON'T think that your car will stop faster than the HGV... if it's loaded you probably will... but if I'm running empty I've got brakes built to stop around forty tons only stopping around twenty (or less) *and* chances are I've got ABS if it's a half decent motor... the last sound you'll hear is the dashboard cracking your thighbones a split second before you nut the underrun bar Sad
On the speeding/ban thing, a traffic cop recently told me that the home office reccomendation (nationwide) is that 30mph or more over the limit merits *at least* a one year ban and fine:(
IMHO not wearing L plates just makes it easy for a Plod that otherwise would just give you a bollocking 'cos he can't think what else to get you for, that's why you get producers... 'cos it's easy. Micro plates, race pipes, bald tyres etc are easy pickings for crap cops! Why not make the buggers work? Go the proddy race route and split a standard pipe, "racerise" it and enjoy the volume/performance while telling the cop "they all sound like that, check the BS mark officer" Wink If you get a small plate don't kick the arse out of it, most coppers don't carry tape measures or books of Const & use regs.
Honestly, Fu**ing up traffic cops is an underrated sport! Have you ever seen the look on a lazy coppers face when his "easy ticket" turns up a legit daylight only MOT, BS stamped cans and a No plate he just isn't quite sure enough to push...? Priceless, and I made sure the little wanker called me sir Wink
Most cops are ok, lets just not make it too easy for the twats eh guys?

Before my mate passed his test a copper pulled him up and he wasn't displaying L plates. He told the copper he had a full licence. He then went and gave my mate a producer, and when my mate took his documents to the bacon station the copper was a different one so didn't know whether he was wearing L plates when he was stopped or not...

If you tell a copper you have a full licence but don't have it on you, they ask you to produce a licence, they don't ask you to prove that you don't need L plates...

As for the 33hp... insurance is generally a good enough way to prevent people getting ridiculous bikes just after they pass their test. Also it seems stupid that insurance doesn't take account of a restricted bike if it actually *is* safer.

Tbf race cans used inappropriatley *do* annoy people and also attract attention to you, which is good in the little kid running across the road sense but bad in the approaching concealed cops at 50mph over the limit situation.
/me looks at exhaust err.... yes but it sounds so *luvrly*

you really need to remove the "not for road use" on your can. It was the first thing i spotted looking at it, and a cop would spot it as well...

althought then you are perverting course of justice...

it does make sense, as a silent veichle is more deadly than a loud one... just dont fire it up too early Very Happy
