i am picking up my first bike today/ tonight but it needs a new CDI unit,

right now i know very very little about bikes but i plan on changing that., i gather the CDI unit has something to do with starting the bike up with the ignition?

my question is

what CDI unit will i need will it have to be exactly the 1994 model one, or will a newer version do?

and does anyone here have one for sale?

Any other information that i need to look for / buy when i purchase the bike tonight

Thanks

Hi

1994 RS125 does not have a seperate cdi unit.

Why is it assumed that one is needed?

If you look on Ebay you will regularly see either power valve control units or regulator / rectifiers for the early RS listed as "cdi unit".

All the best

Keith
