Are all oil filters the same? or is it best to pay extra for the manufacturers name on the filter eg.Suzuki. Been looking at Hi-Flo and they seem ok at a fraction of the cost.

I use genuine, that way I'm not fucking about playing a guessing game at what company is shit and what company isn't.

HiFloFiltro are alright though.

Only buy from recomended agents or OEM.
Look for sound secure packaging. Do not accept a dirty burst box. What is inside the filter?

The cost is not much a couple of quid.
I fit OEM.

Toffs are careless though.

Ditto, Don't see any point in risking a $10K bike just to save 2 fucking bucks on an oil filter..... kinda like putting Cheng Skid tires on a Ferrari.. Rolling Eyes

Although I think it's more important to get OEM spec air filters than oil filters, heard bad things about K&N filters (higher flow filters - let more grit into the airbox)

Seen a few dissections of oil filters (Think someone posted a link a while back) and apart from Fram Filters they all seem much of a muchness, apart from K&N have a nut on the top as standard, but still, you get peace of mind with OEM filters.

pay £7.50 for a Honda filter with the removal tool (Plate with a nut on the top) They're £7.25 without the tool. I also pay £31 for 4 litres of Castrol Fully Synth, so that's £40 all in for an oil change which I might do every 4-6,000 miles?

Might as well push the boat out with something I might do 2-3 times a year.
