I'm about to pass my test soon (fingers crossed), and so I'm looking to buy a sv650. I've found a few on ebay, but I would obviously need to go down and check the bike over before handing out my cash! With me not knowing much about what to look out for, and no friends willing to go on 50 mile treks to lock over bikes for me I'm a little stuck Sad . I was thinking of hiring a mechanic to come look over the bike for me Confused Can this be done? How much is it likely to set me back?
Also how much does it usually cost for a re-spray and some extra fairing's for a sv650?
Thanks in advance
HL

If your that unsure go to a local showroom and have a look around and see what you can see wrong with them. I've just bought a brand New SV650 on 0% offer because of the warranties, no need to MOT and because they're just awesome to me.

I did look for older ones on Ebay and most seemed in good condition but the main problem is wear on the finish because it's suzuki and lack of servicing because they're associated with younger riders who can't afford servicing (good bless the 5 services for £500 package).

Don't hire a mechanic just get someone who's bought cars before to look at it with you and go knowing what to double check on them and you should be okay. simple things like Hand on the engine to check if it's cold, hearing it go through some gears, leaks etc. . . are all pretty simple.
