basically the worst time is when the ground is still fairly dry but its starting to drizzle... makes the roads very slippy.

Basically i take it easy, dont lean and excellerate slower etc. Also avoid wet leaves and wet drain covers when braking or turning. Allow more distance between you and the vehicle in front as braking is alot slower.

I try my best not to ride in the rain as it messes the bike up but if you get caught and it starts raining when your out then there isnt alot you can do.

Allmost all the time's I have crahed (excepting stunts) have been in the wet/wet conditions:
Most important probably:
Seperate braking/accelerating and leaning.
Make sure you've done all the braking before you turn in and don't accelerate untill you're straight.

Decent bike tyres do offer plenty of grip in the wet (gykd isn't a problem with a decent surface!) *but* it's best not to push it and you need to be extra vigilant for drain covers etc that will be very slippy and any change in surfcae/pot holes can start a slide.

If you notice that braking is *considerably* worse in the wet, you're probably braking too hard and too late. Apply the brakes more gently earlier and you won't notice any real difference, you'll also completely avoid the risk of sliding or hitting things.

Just take everything easy in the wet, no point trying to break a lap record when it's pissing it down.

Use a bit of engine braking to help slow the bike!
I find this helps. but dont use very hard engine braking as the back wheel will only slide around.
Stay in a high gear.

Although i was going down a straight road yesterday on the was back from work.
Pulled in the clutch reved it and droped the clutch in...wooohoo wheel spin!
ok its dangerous. but hell it was quite fun at the time!

i have 1 *slide* on my record in the wet, i was riding down the outside of traffic when some tit went through a red light as ours turmed to green, i slammed on my brake and...you know.
like they said. woarst time to ride is after its been sunny and vrought the oil of the tarmac to the surface, then it rains, youll notice an oil patch in the middle of the road where ever you go

I always slow down in the wet, because my "Cheng-Shin" front tyre has no grip at all. I recently got a Continental tyre on the back at feels a lot more capable in the wet than my old Cheng-Shin rear tyre (but then that had no tread Confused )

Never had a problem in the wet. I ride just the same, cept maybe avoid slippery road markings/joins etc a bit more.
