HI, my other half has broken down in Preston, Lancs on his Honda Shadow 125. Does anyone live locally that could help him out? Please pm/email asap.

Thanks

Usually, breakdown companies charge for a recovery within the first 24 hours. I believe the RAC charge is £60.

Unsure. Were having battery problems (discharging over night) but was charged before he set off. Bike cut out and now nothing, won't even try to start.

bump start? tis a shadow 125 should be fairily easy to bump,

ie put in 2nd , hold in clutch push it to a run , clutch out jump on clutch back in rev the balls off it for a minute to keep it going ride off keeping highish revs to prevent it dying

Jump start it... ignition on, stick it in 2nd, pull clutch in, run with bike, jump on then dump clutch and give it some throttle.. it'll more than likely bump start if its just battery problems.... don't waste £60 ++ on breakdown recovery when ya can just bump it.

Check the obvious things first.

Is the killswitch on (if any)?
Is there enough petrol?
Set the petrol tap to reserve or prime (prime is better)
Check to see if any of the lights work to see if the battery is charged.
If there is no charge then bump start it.

Phew, just got in touch with him, he reckons a cylinder seems to be 'missing' when he tries to bump start. BUT a nice couple have offered to keep the bike chained to their house and give him a lift home. How nice is that!

Anyway, at least I know he is safe and sound, thanks for offers of help, he may still need help tomorrow to try and get it working again. I'll let you know!

Thankyou all so much for quick suggestions and trying to help, it is really appreciated.

Sorry, I've been stuck in work all day and had ds55 madly trying to get in touch with me!

I have college tomorrow, but I could get out to Preston for about 4 maybe? Not sure when you are hoping to get the bike back by.
