right, i regularly blast my bike to stupid speeds, I also wheelie a lot which means the front goes from 0mph to 140mph within a split second which balds out my front tyre badly.

it was a 2ct but have now replaced it with a Michelin Pilot Sport. 90 miles later it still has the nobbled on it in the middle etc. BUT when on 2 wheels travelling at anything over 140mph the bikes head starts to shake vigorously as if it doesn't agree with it.

what's gone on? it was balanced at the shop, and they put the tyre pressures in (not sure what though)

should I do a few more miles before going 140mph again?

cheers

Check your tyre pressure first.

A different profile may have changed the geomtry which along with the different shape of the tyre could possibly cause something this to happen.

My triumph race bike shakes at those sorts of speeds if the steering damper isn't turned up.

i've got the stock R1 damper on and it's not too bad, would much prefer an Ohlins.

been maxing it out no problems so no idea why its started to do this after a tyre change. Sad

More what I'd call a speed wobble. Probably the rear tyre is underinflated.

ever since these slappers have begun i've noticed my rear is starting to shred down the middle of the tyre. It might just be a coincidence.

i'll be going to work down the twistys from now on.

Certain bikes dont like certain tyres Ive found.

My XBR500 was horrid on BT45s but great on Metzeler ME33/ME550s.

Check tyre pressures often, always check mine before a long ride.

Don't trust fuel station air pumps, they're f**king shit. I use a £7 foot pump i got from Machine Mart, along with a high quality pressure gauge that i got off my grandad.

Hi

Err, what do you mean about the middle of the back tyre shredding?

I would say check the new tyre. Check the bead is fully seated. Check the wheel bearings. Check the tyre is going the right way. Check the rear end as well.

All the best

Keith

The A50 isn't exactly the best surfaced road for doing 140 on, try somewhere smooth n see what thats like.

Get your tyres fixed and then get up to Elvinton in a couple of weeks and have a crack at the world wheelie record Twisted Evil

Are you sure it's not you N30, I mean, 140mph maybe you're clenching your butt cheeks, and starting to shake at them their high speeds Wink

or it could be a miss match tyre selection and as said tyre pressure.
