You can buy license-exempt walkie talkies from Maplin.

Although you'd prolly have to make your own headsets.

Unless anyone else knows?

I have one of these, with the right lead and software you can up the power from 0.5watts to 5 watts (don't tell ofcom though)

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KENWOOD-TK-3207-for-use-with-Autocom_W0QQitemZ260153605037QQihZ016QQcategoryZ122235QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Do some research though as some of these are not from the official factory.

Just bought a set from Argos. The brand is 'the science museum', but they are basically walkie talkies with a headset included with earphone and mic. They are voice operated and have a range of 5KM so should be pretty good. Not had chance to use on the bike yet, but they are certainly good in normal use (I use them when we go camping to tell the kids when to come back from the playground!).

Price was good too - only £30

Could you let us all know when you've given them a try. I suppose it's all about wind noise.
