Went too look at an 03 R1 today and took it for a test blat! Very fast compaird to my 636 was going to get it but i noticed when pulling away in 1st as i let the clutch out their was a judder unless i gave it a load of revs, what is this? Is the clutch on its way out? Anyway when i got back on the 636 i loved it just gives me more of a buzz thrashing it to the redline Twisted Evil . But i do love the extra torque of the liter for everyday riding and the R1 was so sexy!

Throttle bodies or carbies (depending on which R1 it was) may need balancing. Which could explain the juddering.

And litre bikes kick arse.

I test rode a new 2007 R1 a few weeks ago and that was similar when pulling away. Ie anything below 4000 rpm it didn't seem to like it and seemed to give off a bit of vibration. Other than that it was an awesome bike in terms of power and handling, the only thing that did concern me was how hot the underseat exhausts were on the backs of your legs.

To cut a long story short the R1 was a lovely bike but just a little too extreme to be an everyday bike. What I mean is that it wasn't good at starting and stopping such as in town traffic and it was hard work at low speeds, especially with the exhaust burning your arse. I realise the bike isn't designed to 'go slow' etc but if I was to buy it then it would have to perform these everyday tasks.

In the end I have decided to stick with my R6 for the current time, as that is much more of an 'all-rounder' compared to the R1.
