yamaha tw/suzuki rv/hyosung rt wheel sizes

As above, would like to find out the rear wheel rim width for any of these bikes, I know all use a 14" rear rim but can't find the widths anywhere.

Need to know as im planning a road legal 85cc supermoto just for fun, but the 17" look to big, and 12"to small, need to know the width so i can sort out what tyre size i can use.

Also if anyone has converted an 85cc bike before what size tyre will fit in the swingarm before interfeering with the chain.

I think people normally use 17" wheels - there is 100/130 width rubber in 17" available specifically for these bikes converted for racing.

Definitely be interesting to hear how it works out . I've been thinking about something like this for a while now - enough power to have fun at low speeds and ridiculously low weight should be good with decent rubber stuck on it.

I was thinking of using 100/70-14 front and 140/70-14 rear both tyre sizes easily available and would give the bike the right proportions just like the bigger machines. but the 140 rear needs at least a 3.50 rim and idealy a 4.00

140/14 will look dis-proportioned, I'd have thought. Doubt you'll get anything that wide, those presume it is possible.

We had serious trouble find decent rubber for our gilvera DNA race bike - only two semi-decent tyres available in 14 inch size it seems.
One is a continental, other I forget.

Not sure if anything even comes in 140 width? Have you checked to see if a 140 would fit in a 85cc swing arm?

Were it me, I'd definitely go for the 17" rims, presuming they fit ok on a performance over looks thing.

If the guys using 17" rims can fit a 130 then fitting a 140 with a 14" rim should be o.k. as far as the swing arm goes (swingarms usualy taper from frame to wheel) my problem would be chain clearance.
