Does anyone know if the 'acu approved' solid footpegs are road legal?

I've just bought an NC30 which has some sort of aftermarket rearsets. Trouble is, the right hand peg has snapped (between the hanger and the peg pivot) and I haven't a hope in hell of finding out the exact make of rearset to get a replacement.

There are loads of cheap sets of rearsets on fleabay, but they all have solid 'acu approved' pegs. Are these road legal? I know I might need a brake light banjo switch to activate the brake light, but are the solid pegs OK for the road?

What about getting it welded up?

Maybe not with my bottom-of-the-range arc welder, but MTC has recommended me a place around that kinda area that's good in the past.

Anyway, MOT's ages away Razz.

Hi

Not heard of any UK rule on it. There are rules in the USA (Bimotas had fixed pegs in the UK, and folding ones just for the USA for this reason).

All the best

Well, the bike has 'coerce' rearsets, which are Japanese, and you can't get them any more in the UK as far as I can tell. Oddly they have the make stamped on the hanger which I didn't even think to look at! Doh!

The bike already has a Banjo bolt brake light switch, and on ebay there are some really pretty rearsets for about £130 (inc postage) from Thailand.

G, I don't think it can easily be welded, because the prongs are both very bent. I could potentially drill a hole in the brake lever pivot and bolt a solid peg on, but then it wouldn't match the left side and I wouldn't need to go and buy shiney things.

£130 does seem a lot, but the bike was such a bargain anyway I can't really complain.
