Quick question about oil change...

Do i need to warm up the oil first? do i start the bike and let it run. turn it off and the collect the oil while its hot? or can i do it cold.

most service manuals mention that you should warm the engine first.
makes it comes out easier.

ok wikid guys. I remember burning myself countless times when doing oil changed on cars. they put the oil filter in the most stupid places imaginable.

True it does make it come out easier as the hotter the oil gets the thinner it goes in its consistency. But the other reason you should warm it up first is so that it brings more of the crud and crap out from inside your engine when you drain it.

Hi

Warm oil flows more easily, but your bike is a 2 stroke so the oil you aer changing is only in the clutch / gearbox. It is not going to get warm very quickly just sitting idling.

If you can take it for a spin first.

done now. The oil was dark grey/black. Is this right or does it mean the oil was completely spent? ive replaced it now and adjusted the clutch. Thanks for all the help as always

I dunno but when my trans' oil came out it was a dark brown.
