okay i need quick replies before sat lunch time.

I was supposed to be buying a sv650 but insurance companies are a right bitch and now i cant borrow my dads 125 to learn on for a month. Which means i need a 2 smoke to learn on.
I can buy a 125 for a moth or 2 and then buy a sv650 and restrict it (insurance is 900 for me!) or i could buy a 125 and keep it for a year so i get a nice no claims. So advice is needed Wink

Okay the cg125, the sensible choice and the one i would advise to anyone buying, but if i was going to buy it...but just look at the 0-60mph time, 17 seconds.
Comeone my mums ford fiesta would beat that, infact nearley half it! That is taking the piss a bit, i mean theres slow and then theres the honda! 17 seconds i still cant believe it! top speed 70mph (im guessing a few months to get their). Okay they sound a lot better
than the 2 smokes and they will last. Its the choice you would make if your 40, and not 17... I know its the sensible thing to do but i dont fancy being overtaken by old granny's.

Looking at the 'flash' bikes like the mito and rs but theyre going to break down in a few months.

God i hate 125's its eithier shit slow or break it fast. =(

I wouldn't mind the honda for a few months but i
wouldn't be able to hack it for a year. I'll see whats
on offer tomorow, but the mito's do look so nice, its
like a miniture 999.

I think the honda looks like the best option untill i
pass my test, and then buy a cheap sv650 around 1500,
budgeting 500 for insurance...
but then again if a buy a quicker 125 i would be more
inclined to keep it for the year...

bloody insurance compinies...

Well what would you guys do in my position?

Thanks, Ben

CG125 for a year - trust me. Thumbs Up

Okay not sexy but minimal maintence, low cost running and easy to find spares. I put well over 25k on mine without an oilchange.

Rhey are fairly easy to work on if you get the Haynes and they are also a surprising amount of fun.

They really do teach you how to ride as well. I was following a bloke on a CG on the Country roads out to my sisters at a steady 60 round corners that were making me nervous.

Fair play on long straight roads, especialy in heavy headwinds it felt like I could make a cup of tea in the time it took to get from 50 to 70, however 0-40 they are surprisingly quick and are small/light enough to be a filtering weapon. I loved mine. Very Happy

TPO the CeeGee and get a good chain - as long as you don't hit anyone else you'll have a years no claims when it comes time to insure the SV as well as being a year older. Win-win I'm telling you.

hmm i think the honda looks like the best buy.

They sound good fun in the city.

hmmm... if all goes well and i don't get bored then prehaps i could keep it for a year and if it is complete and utter boredom then i suppose i could scrap it in after a few months.

Thanks for that, knowing that someone else could stick out for a year does make me more inclined to go wit it.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. The 0-60 time is long because you're getting close to its top speed, but they are nippy enough up to 45-50 and will still beat cars off the lights.

Not sure about CBR125.
on mine, It's just taking the back panel off (after taking out so many bolts)...taking the old ones out. Putting the new ones in place, putting the wires in. putting it back together. I should know, I've replaced them loads of times =[ lol.
