(Ignore Barry, he's just being a dick in this photo, he's a very nice chap, really, a most admirable son-in-law-to-be)
Rolling Eyes

The wall behind has been Andy's project this week.

We found a bunch of folders with all these little aluminium squares, some sort of sample folders, in a skip down the road.

So (of course) the best thing to do with them was NOT leave them in the skip. It was to lug them all home, and take the little squares off and stick them randomly on the wall.

There's some left over, so they are doing the top of a chest of drawers as well.

Haven't got a car at the mo, else they may well have ended up there.

We had an old Citroen once, which he re-decorated the entire inside upholstery with multi-coloured random pieces of loud fun-fur.

That made heads turn.

He woulda done some on the outside as well ... only I convinced him that it would look really shitty when it rained.

Hehe... don't want to buy a vintage 1989 Mk1 Vauxhall Nova 993cc do you? The chassis is mint, and the bodywork is rust free except on the rear left panel where there is a dent. Its even rust free around the battery and bulkhead! The only problem is it needs a new engine, but the gearbox is fine...

How come I never find cool stuff like that in skips?

Any of them going to find their way onto your bike?

*bites lip*

Hmmm, good point.

There was talk of variously using the bigger bits of diamondplate (of which we also found about six pieces with the folders).

Current thinking is for the kitchen unit doorfronts.

But I might suggest their use on the Super Tenere instead.
Thumbs Up

We nearly didn't notice it ourselves.

We were returning for a look at a really ugly mosaic leather piece of "office artwork" thing which we were thinking of scavenging the leather out of, when I happened to look down at the pile of junk beside the skip, and noticed the diamond plate. Which, of course, necessitated closer examination.

We ended up leaving the leather mosaic thing behind Rolling Eyes

It also occurrs to me that they'd look pretty cool on a leather jacket too, a kind of 'armoured' look.

Mate of mine in Cambridge did that effect. Covered the upper arms/shoulders of his leather in steel by pushing short bolts thru from the inside & then fastening penny washers to them with dome head nuts.

Silly sod looked like a even gayer then Spartacus... Rolling Eyes

I love fine-sample packs, they're almost a work of art in their own right. Exquisite little aluminium panels coated with exotic materials/patterns, sweeet! Thumbs Up

For me to put my lipstick on, of course.
