It will help when you can get the picture uploaded, and if you can get a picture of you offering the bellypan up to the bike that will help too.

I have a similar problem with a hugger (that I'm yet to fit Embarassed ).

When you offer it up to the bike, it may become obvious where it needs to be fixed, and you can then go armed with this information to your local hardware store. Either that, or if it was advertised WITH fitting kit, then have a word with whoever sold you the bellypan and get them to send through a fitting kit pronto.

Looks like it is designed to be painted first, then the holes drilled for fitting. On the second pic those round indents look like thats where some bolts go Confused

It looks fairly simple. The clips go around the frame tubes, approximately where the indent s on the bellypan are. Marry up the bellypan, then drill holes to suit. Drill the holes before painting.

Clean the holes up, prime and paint the bellypan. When the paint is dry, just re-assemble the whole lot. Use stainless steel bolts and nuts if you can (you can get them off eBay or through a local hardware store, and put a dab of grease on the threads (makes it easier to take it off in the future). would also put some tape/rubber under the clips to protect the paint on the frame.

fit the brackets on to the so as to line them up..then line the pan up to the bike ,mark with marker pen, drill ,being careful not to allow the drill to bite the plastic and crack the plastic, then get the pan sprayed using a plastic base undercoat, top coat then lacquer..unless youre getting it spryed professionally.
Fixing bolts can be obtained from any good stockist..preferably dome headed and stainless..i use a2a4 in Shirley..southampton,but you can get the bolts from probolt, most places really!!any problems give me a shout/bell.tim Thumbs Up

On my belly pan i had the same problem as you, through the lugs i put bolts and then put black bungs through the holes. It slips on and off with ease, i put lock nuts on so i can adjust how tight it is plus it looks very tidy indeed

Im having problems. Either the pan is the wrong one//or Im being dumb. It just dont seem to fit. the pan is ment to fit 'outside' the bike right? not underneath the bars? I have no room really to sort the R clips out, scratched the frame allready.
As this came from Portugal waited 3 weeks im pretty hacked off.
Dose the photo seem like im doing things right?

One side seems to be 'ok' but the other wont go near the holes that needs to be drilling.

Are those the original downpipes? They look like they are fowling the belly pan and needs to sit way to far forward to fit properly.

You have a point - Remember when I had my exhaust re-welded the bloke questioned if they were original or not. Thinking

If I go to far forward its too close to the wheel - See if I can make some makeshift bracett - Im off soon for a week and want it sorted Confused

Yea thought that, the link pipes between the headers look too good to be a standard pipe. The down pipes seem quite a bit more forward than the standard. Maybe able to modify the belly pan to fit, probably be a bit of a bugger though. Confused

Deffo needs modding - Not too impressed, still not go it on but seems to slot in quite tight where its ment too. Thumbs Up

Just seen this, you need rubber covered P clips to stop the frame damage getting any worse. Wink

I had never heard them called that, ever.

Just opened an account with someone in the UK who makes them and they just call them p-clips.

Thank you. (meant quite seriously btw)

Hi,

Ok, just had a google of bandits and those pipes you have on your bike look like the standard ones (or very very similar at least).

It appears that the belly pan you have been supplied with is a universal type which is designed to fit a variety of bikes.

From previous experience of fitting a similar belly pan to my gs500 all i can say is take your time and try not to get frustrated at it (easily done coz they are fiddley buggers to fit - especially if you are doin it on your own - never enough hands!!). I ended up fitting and removing my pan a few times before i was happy with it, tweaking the mounting bracket position by a few millimeters each time. Its a bit of a trial and error job - I also found that some of the brackets supplied with the pan had to be bent a bit to allow them to sit flush against the pan.

It does look like a very tight fit to your bike with almost no clearance between your downpipes and the bellypan at all. You may have to take a file or a dremel type tool to the pan to allow some clearance to the down pipes. If the pan is too close to the pipes then the heat from the pipes will melt the pan. That problem can be combated by the application of some sticky backed heat proof silver foil to the inside of the pan but its best to have a decent bit of clearance from the pipes anyway.

Hope that helps a little. Good luck.
