What it is, it’s my younger sisters birthday Saturday. She if fairly well off and it’s difficult to buy for her, so misses doing the voucher route. But for the past 2 night’s I have been photoshoping a very old Polaroid picture of my late mum, young sister and younger brother, she has not seen the picture for many years, and probably cant even remember it’s existence… so I’m doing what I can with my limited knowledge with Photoshop to clean it up and enhance the quality, then I’m going to print it and frame it for her…

All that just to get to the main question… Rolling Eyes . I want to insert the picture in to a framed pattern around the picture edge like maybe flowers or something girlie… can anyone give me some pointers/advice, or does somebody know where I can get some ideas for this project.

Time is running out as she is having a party Saturday night and I want to hand it to here then.. as my younger brother is coming down from the south as well.
Oh and how do I turn it to High definition when finished?
If you don’t understand exactly what I’m looking to do please tell me...

Any help will be well appreciated.

You can get some nice FREE frame images and patterns from this site.

https://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=search&w=1&txt=frame

You would just insert it as another layer and size and line it up to suit. if you want to get clever use a magic eraser to remove the white bit from the center of the frame and put the photo behind it.

Unfortunatley you cant do that, you can make the picture bigger but the bigger it goes the fuzzier it will get.

You can upscale an image using various techniques and bits of software - the more expensive stuff converts your photo into vectors/splines and upsizes based on that - but you're looking at large costs. I did have an upscaler which I'll try to find (it was Mac only)...

You can find a PC/Mac one here - https://www.beardedfrog.com/

This does a pretty good job without costing the earth.

You can get same kind of results in photoshop, Image resize etc, this uses interpolation to insert extra pixels into your image, the problem is as the Bearded frogs example shows as you increase the size of the images you lose the chrispness, your not getting a high resolution picture just a bigger one.

Original Image

Bearded frog 2x larger

The best way round this is to scan the image at as high a resolution as possible, work on the file at hi res, and then reduce it to the size you need.

Try
www.ineasysteps.com

There is a book called Photoshop projects by john slater.
You can download some images that go with the book for free. I think there is a photo frame in there some where.
