If you are working on the bike with the sparkplugs out, it is a good idea to stuff a rag in the hole because you can garauntee anything you drop (nut, washer etc) will go straight down it and into your engine. You then have to get it out again. Options include fishing for it, taking the head off or turning the bike upside down.
