Finished work last week and on my way home I pulled in with the queue of traffic to give way to an ambulance. When the ambulance had passed the traffic in front, along with myself, resumed the position in the lane. Just before this happened, I spotted a car practicaly following the ambulances wake, obviously using this as a traffic queue hop. The traffic then moved slowly forward and stopped again due to a pedestrian crossing further ahead. I stopped ih traffic and shortly after was hit from behind which in-turn shunted me into the car in front. The bike was wedged in between the two cars.

I dont recall the moment from being shunted forward to when i was at the roadside looking at my bike on the floor. Did i black out? I dont even remember hitting the floor, i just felt my leg being very sore and my pants and gloves ripped.

Couldnt believe it, the woman behind said that she was looking at the car following the ambulance and did not see the traffic had stopped in front.

Bikes in the shop now, just looks cosmetic but who knows?

Classic case of "driving without due care and attention" me thinks. Just like rubber-necking: too busy being nosy instead of concentrating on driving. Thumbs Down

Dozy bint! Rolling Eyes

Hope you're ok? Did you get checked at the hospital? If not, you should see a doctor ASAP in case you need to claim for injuries, etc. Karma Thumbs Up

I bet she was on mobile phone or doing her eyebrows, hope your injuries aint to bad I had a high side yesterday cracked gearbox cover so lost all my oil and all down to some diesel on corner.

In situations like that I tend to ride close to white line so I got an escape route. This also brings up the debate do I leave the bike in neutral or in gear.

Any how hope ou and your bike are back on the road soon. AJ

As above, as there was injury they should have been called.

Did you get yourself checked out? Just in case you did black out, it might be worth it if not.

its strange, just couldnt remember in the short time what had happened, i know i must have hit the floor due to the injuries and the bikes position

the adrenalin was pumping when i realised what had happened and i didnt feel any pain at all, but when i got home 20 mins later my head was pounding and my leg was aching like mad

the doctor expects me to suffer 2-3 weeks, but my knee is not easing and my headaches have not gone, will have to revisit him over the next couple of days to have another check up

now i have all the hassle of filling in insurance forms....

thanks for your input

When you are on your back in the road do not stand up until you see a policeman.

The bane of everybody's existence. The M27 was snarled the other day and it was because someone had a relatively minor accident and was on the hard shoulder with a police car....thus everyone slowed and had a good nose around creating a huge traffic jam. Idiots!!!

Glad to hear the damage to yourself isnt too bad after all a bike can be repaired/replaced. Cool

Get down the hospital ASAP & get checked out! Better safe than sorry, especially with head injuries.
