I just saw on Sky News that this gentleman has been recognised as Englands fastest speeder.
He was caught a while ago in Porsche doing just over 170mph near Oxfordshire.

He has been given a three year ban and 10 week jail sentence Confused


I know the usual arguments that he was speeding, think of the kittens etc.. i also know some folks on here have been known to the same speeds if not higher on their machines...

The thing that has got my back right up is the fact that this chap was given a jail term Thumbs Down three year ban.. well fair enough for the ban he was doing silly speeds... but Jail??

It has pissed me off because to think of what some scumbags in this country get for some offences then you have a motorist who choose to go fast and gets raped for it...

Take this for example... my nan's house was broken into twice by some scroates.... the cops took ages to turn up.. did bugger all... they caught one little tosser who was a repeat offender... and he got community service...

Some scraotes vandalised the front of my house... the cops aren't even bothered by that... yet if they catch someone breaking a speed limit they go to the moon and back to get a prosecution...

I just don't understand it all?? Confused

Because it is easy, with ££££££ invested in police cameras etc you have an open shut case,

a Burglary requires a CSI to check for prints/DNA , then a detective to go round houses asking for the scrote then the stolen goods to be found.

the 2nd one takes alot more time, thus the speeder the case goes to court sentence passed = crime detected + crime solved + punishment = good statistics

I hate to say it but when travellling at ridiculous speeds of 150mph+, let alone 170 on public roads there's a much greater chance of someone being killed than there is when someone is vandalising property or committing burglary... Rolling Eyes

Hi

Ignore the chance of him being killed. His choice. That leaves the chance of others being killed. Happens a lot so that is a pretty slim chance, and almost certainly not having any other effect on others unlike vandalism or burglary.

thats very true and i dont disagree... but it would be no different to someone wondering around a town (innocently) with a swiss army knife in their pocket.... the opportunity to harm/kill someone is there but the average jack isn't going to deliberately kill someone....

in the same token if ever i speed i will always asses the conditions first... most people are hardly likely to come blundering into a village doing speeds that even Sterling Moss would envy.. nor are they likely to do speeds that will result im them having an accident

as said before i am aggravated by the way the police/courts dealt with a motorist yet other people who do questionably worse simply get away scott free.

Not only that but in North Yorks at the moment if the plod catch you speeding you are almost guaranteed to be in your best dressed with a tub of KY within a week Shocked and yet if someone got beat up the culprit would generally go a number of weeks before going to court.... i mean .... wtf?

Nah, i'm fairly sure the fastest british speeder was a local 'Emul lad on a 'blade - as i recall he'd filmed his ride on a tankcam and then got pulled in a 'routine' stop. Coppers saw the camera and checked his footage. Oops!
I think Tim Brady is the fastest 'clocked' speeder.

question is why did he let the cops look at the video, surely he should have kept a degausser coil wrapped around it just in case,

Maybe done it to make a point, so your Joe Bloggs holds back thinking about 'that case where a guy went to jail' the next time they're thinking about going those sort of speeds.

Annoying when some scrote gets next to nothing/warnings for things like muggings/burglary etc though.

He's from 'Emul - he wouldn't know a degausing rod if you stuck it up his arse - which is probably similar to what happened to him in prison!

I think the (faulty) reasoning is that your nan and you bear the costs of replacing lost property/repairing your house, and that those costs are minimal.

In the case of speeding, the costs for dealing with an accident/fatality caused by excessive speed are huge, and are lumped on the taxpayer.

The number caused by excessive speed over the limit is tiny (well under 5%), and the real costs are not that large (~£50k real costs).

I entirely agree, but taking that sensible attitude and promoting driver training and tightening up test standards, rather than repeating the "speed kills" mantra, would net the government far less in tax from fuel due to the number of idiots it would remove from the road...

They get money back from the work they do to catch motorists. They do not from attending real crimes.
