This is my first post on this forum, so hello to you all!

I have a really scary problem. Im fairly experienced with motors, but Ive run into a brick wall on this one.

First off, my bike is a 2005 Suzuki Bandit 1200S with 11265 miles on it. The bike has been all original, until the latest mods listed below.

Ive put a Holeshot Comp 2 full-header exhaust, and holeshot stage 1 modified jet kit, and a 5 degree timing advancer on the bike (at about 10700), as well as some suspension stuff that doesnt deal with the problem im having.

When the bike is cold, and by cold I mean for the first 10 minutes, I have no problems whatsoever. However when it is warmed up, it begins to make a clicking sound above 3500rpms. The sound starts to get drowned out at about 4500, but if I lay my head on the tank I can hear it all the way up. It makes NO abnormal sounds below 3500, no matter what gear im in, how hard im on the throttle, or how much load is on the engine. Once the engine has been run for awhile, or Im sitting at a light on a hot day, it gets NOTICABLY louder.

While the timing has been advanced, im running 91 premium (which I prolly dont need but ill run until this problem is resolved), and if I were having pre-det, full throttle in top gear at 2500rpms would make it ping (i think so anyway). If it were a problem mechanically in the engine, such as a rod bearing, piston pin, or even a loose valve (which seems highly unlikely considering the mileage), it wouldnt vary so much if at all between hot and cold. Youd hear it all the time.

Im looking for anyones thoughts on what this could be. I wanna say that I have an exhaust leak at the header, but it sounds SO mechanical im skeptical. Plus, it has new gaskets, and the pipe actually slides into the head up to the exhaust ports. The valves are all dead center in the middle of tolerance, and the camchain has been tightened just a tad, as it was a little loose..

By the way, this problem has started SINCE these mods were done.. I never heard it before...

Sorry for the novel, but any ideas?

i gather your in the states somewhere?? if your doing the timing advance, and running 91 as a premium fuel
it sounds like something is expanding with the heat and the tolleances are changing, it use to happen with the really old gs500's
with the cam shaft end float, but since you havn't done anything with the cam shafts i think we can safely ignore that,
if i was you i would take the advancer out and see if that makes a difference, an also change he fuel back to 89??
i can't really think of anything and am really just stabbing in the dark.
good luck mate, and welcome to the forum
