... to sort out the roads? People follow each other too closey as a matter of routine, turn without looking, etc. etc.

What would YOU do to sort it out? Increase traffic police patrols? More speed cameras? Autobahns?

What are your ideas to produce to a better functioning (and safer) road system in this country?

I should be allowed to carry a large calibre handgun that holds a lot of bullets, i should then be allowed to administer 'roadside justice' to any offending motorists.
Thumbs Up

Hi

Build more motorways. Current network is pathetic by most standards.

Scrap speed cameras entirely.

Enforce the keep left rule on motorways.

Probably would need more police.

All the best

Keith

Anyone using a mobile phone while driving, should be banned for life and have it firmly implanted up their fucking arse.

If its so important that sodding phone call, pull over.

Or hows about getting a bluetooth jobby and using that, its better to look a pillock than run wide and kill/injure a oncoming motorist, because you've run wide on a corner because your too busy smooth talking yourshag piece.

Piss me off so much.

Oh and private hire taxi's should be abolished, their standard of driving is shit and their robbing bastards too.

£30 travel the massive 12 miles from Manchester city centre to Ainsworth Bury, your having a Giraffe.

People caught driving without insurance/license should be punished way more severely.

I think all cameras should be replaced with monitoring cameras.

i.e. Not checking for speed but general road behaviour: e.g. turning without indicating. Or catching those who cut people up unexpectedly.

Take all the slow old f*****s off the road, there's nothing worse than being stuck behind an old fart doing 30 mph in a national speed limit stretch of road if they want to go slow walk.

Compulsory safety testing every 3 to 5 years to take drivers with a completely unacceptable standard of driving off of the road.

Enlarge existing motorways to 6 lanes, with a recommended speed limit of 120mph, but some sections will be unlimited, with earlier warnings for people to get in the correct lane before their exit, to prevent as many people making a last minute dash to the left hand lane.

Bluetooth would become a legal requirement in cars, busses and trucks.

Instead of roundabouts, there will be elevated criss crossing roads (to enable people to perform a u turn as they may use a roundabout for there will be exits just before) Neutral

Service stations will frequently host impromptu Nintendo wii tournaments.

There will be no tolls.

Speed camera's will be abolished, and the populace will receive a refresher in roadcraft every year, at no cost, travel expenses paid.

I was actually thinking of this the other day.

I can appreciate that you are asking the question instead of just pissing and moaning about it.

As always don't come with a problem, just bring a solution.

I was thinking that maybe there be a limit on how many licenses are permitted to be held on our roads at any one time.
Obviously this would probably be relative the the size of the local population.

To gain a license you must be regularly tested and the top percentile of those tested drivers acquires a license until the next period of testing is completed.

If you are again in the top percentile then you keep your license.

This would not only raise the youngest limit on drivers while they gain experience off the road but also limit the amount of older drivers who are on the road that no longer have the ability to cut the mustard as such.

Ok its never going to happen but it was worth a thought or two while i was riding.

Unfortunately obtaining a license is more like a right than a privilege in most places.

It sometimes worries me when I think that that literally every person controlling a vehicle I pass on the road has my life in their hands during that exact moment.

They could at any time make a conscious decision or simply through error take my life through their actions.

Kind of makes you not want to go out onto the roads some days.

Scrap road tax, put it on fuel.
Mandatory display of insurance and MOT discs.
Create viable public transport, reopen local train lines.
Allow shoot on sight chav purges. People might use buses again then.
Allow left turn on red at traffic lights.
Promote internet shopping.
Make kids walk or cycle to school, fat little fuckers.
Improve cycle path network.
Scrap speed cameras.
Scrap speed bumps.
Raise speed limit on motorway to 90mph.
Remove 56mph speed limiters on trucks.
Remove 30mph restriction on mopeds.
Allow petrol assisted bicycles to be classed as such, and not as mopeds - keep same usage rules as electric bicycles (14 years old, no helmet/insurance, 14mph max speed whilst not pedalling)
More motorcycle police.
Free GPS based speed indicators that show current speed and active speed limit, so the dozy fuckers who sit there at 35mph when the speed limit is 60mph KNOW they are being dozy fuckers. Have a built in voice synth that shouts "IT'S THE LONG SKINNY PEDAL ON THE RIGHT!!!" at them.

make separate roads for bikes,
they would have higher speed limits, no cameras, and of course just have random twisty bits everywhere.

seriously though, i think you should have to do a test to ride a different engine sized bike, i.e 1 test for a 125, and another for a 600 and another for a 750 etc, no age limitations, but make the test apropiatley hard for the speed of the bike (this could be like the way they do police training and stuff).
