Ok well a deposit has just gone down for a Hornet worth £2,600.

The issue starts here, I can only add it to my current insurance with ebike (2months left) as third party only.

This will cost me £107.

I don't have a garge I can lock it in over night, and they won't allow me to buy TPF&T insurance.

I wish it was as simple as just cancelling my current policy but that would mean I loose the last 9-10months no claims build up.

In my area I know of no bikes being stolen, so risk assesment wise its unlikely, but what if? £2600 down the drain.

I really only have 2 options,

Insure it for 2months with just Third party and buy an alarmed disc lock or a thick chain.

OR

Wait 2months and start a new policy having gained another years no claims.

Perhaps if i say the bike is only worth 2K they may insure me? and it does get stolen i'll at least get some money.

Gah.

Any advice appreciated Smile

Thanks

you could always try the PAYG insurance for the 2 months for me and the CBR it worked out at £26 a month or there abouts, over a year that obviously amounts to £312 considering I pay £211 for the whole year.

But its less than the £65 admin fee and £25 charge for altering my insurance docs.

That would involve a seperate policy yes? Will they mind me doing that?

I Think the problem with that would be me having no NCD as it can only be used on one policy.

Ok just tried that, £112 a month TP only (they wouldn't insure me F&T) and if they would it would be mucho expensive.

I hope you are getting quotes from more than e-bike?

Just phone around as new policy, ask what the price will be if you transfer the ncb in 2 months. Pay the higher premium for 2 months then add the ncb on

I had a seperate policy for my BMW when I needed to use it for a couple weeks. Basicly it'd have cost me £110 to have it put on my main policy, and it was like £39/month without any no-claims on PAYG.
So I got PAYG insurance from E-Bike for 1 month. Easy. It's all done on-line too, so straight away I set the cancellation day.

If I was you, I'd just do it that way.
