Hi

My YBR which ive had since december has done 6000miles. And i was wondering if anyone knew whats the typical life of Chains and brakes for this bike. As its already gone through one set of tyres at 3700miles.

So far this bike has just kept on going and hasnt put a foot wrong Very Happy Cool

Cheers for the help

Hi

Chain life is largely down to how well it is treated. Don't adjust / lube it and you will kill it in a couple of thousand miles. Take great care and 20K~30K is not out of the question.

Similarly brakes vary with how you ride. I have killed pads in 2000 miles, and had them last 10 times that long. Easy to visually check though.

Sorry I can't give you any more accurate ideas.

All the best

Keith

depends on how much of a hooligan you are!! I always lube the chain when i get back from a run, while its still warm, the lube gets into the links better.

Thats very low mileage for tyres on a commuter 125. What you been up to? Laughing

On my work bike, a 600, I get anything from 6000-10000 miles.

The chain is lubbed after a fuel up so say every 200 miles abouts. Just the YBR manual isnt very good at telling you where the marker is for the brake pads is on the front (th drums good thats easy to check). As theres meant to be a marker but i dont see a marker Confused .

Well the rear tyre wore down very quick so i put some pilot sporty tyres on and they seem to be lasting alot longer so far, and the YBR125 tyres are shite any owner of one will tell you that lol!

i went through one of them shitty bt92's in no time, it wore down on the sides more than the center cos of the dual compound and the sides where hell loads less depth so i knew they would be gone in no time, think it lasted about 3000miles approx.
its all down to what there made off and how you use them, my pads are living quite well and thick, my chain is great too and thats done loads of miles.

This can also happen if the tyre is under inflated.
