its always worth starting on a dryslope. its different to snow, but the technique is the same, and only takes an hour or so to adapt from one to the other.

theres quite a good dryslope in bracknall, i think thats quite near to you

Just got back from a week in the bulgarian mountains, skiing. First time and it cost £450 for 7 days in a 4* hotel, 6 days ski tutition, 6 days ski rental and ski pass's plus flights! Unbeleivable.

Skiing was very easy to learn and it was fantastic fun. Snow boarding looked good fun too, but when people stacked it snowboarding they flew downthe hillside cos the boards were attached to their feet (where as the ski's came off).

Nice one Thumbs Up I'll have a look at dry-slope before I go, I don't wanna look like a complete nub-cake on the slopes Laughing

stack it full pelt down a black run then enjoy the half mile hike up near vertical foot deep snow to retreive your skis Very Happy
i can ski too, im no good, but i just became natrually accustomed to boarding
its harder than skiing though
the beauty of boarding is the freestyle bit, if you bail, get up and try again
it takes about 1 minute to retreive and put skis back on after the most minor fall

Looks a bit sparse mate. This is what you want:

Actually there wasn't that much snow. Worst season on record in the Alps. I was reading the other day that Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevadas (California) have had 7 feet of snow in the past week!

Yeah, its been a terrible season all over Europe. Some of the slopes were pretty sparse then others were brilliant. the peaks were grand but the lower areas weren't so good. I found the skiing itself a doddle to learn until I KO myself......lol......spun round and flew onto the back of my head at speed. My necks still fucked!

Either way, I'll definitely do it again, but I don't think I'd ever bother with a dry slope as half the fun was being up on the mountain....a dry slope reminds me largely of a treadmill Laughing

I started to learn at my local slope in Tallington...

Dry slope, so it was more difficult than the loose stuff...

I figured if i could learn on top of wirey tiles then i would bo confident when i hit the powder... Problem is that before i got to a standard where i could hit the real stuff - i stopped going and havent realy been since.

Tried to get back into it about a year ago once or twice but never realy got back into it.

Its something that i realy want to get into, in a big way. Before i stopped i was looking into getting my own setup - or at least starting to get my own setup. I would realy like to be good enough to hit some slopes in france or somewhere similar, but i cant see it happening that quickly.

What with learning to drive and all my racing, its becoming ever less likely Sad

In Bulgaria we were all skiing (dead basic like) within our first 5 hours. After three days we were all confident on the grenn slopes and heading down blue ones, no problems. lol, saying that I'd no real desire to fling myself down a red or black after on 6 days.

Theres a good dry slope near me. They have just changed from the old "Toothbrush" style slope to the plastic "Velcro" style slope. Dont know technical names, But I know Id much rather come off on the new style slope.

Only thing is, If you ride hard, the new stuff eats away at the bottom of your board.

Ive got a snowboard, Cant really use it though, I took it down the bank last year when it snowed, Managed to stay up. Ive also been down the stairs twice on it. Laughing (Jackass style).

Would love to go to the alps or something though.

If you live near an Xscape they actaully have an indoor snow slope. which is perfect for getting practise in...I've never used them but now I've seen one nearby it may become a regualr thing!

When it snows,

I get practice in by using one of my skate decks and some shoelaces of my last pair of DC's to create a custom snowboard and bindings Laughing

Works a treat Very Happy

the old brush stuff is called 'dendix', new stuff is either called 'perma snow' or 'snoflex'
perma snow is like velcro, snoflex is like blades of grass.

your going to fucking love it!
