As in my other thread entitled oops I need:

CBR600 FX parts,

What other CBR600 parts will fit ? , David silver's and sickpup have a worrying lack of CBR parts, so do wemoto, thus I have to turn to Ebay or maybe go to Blacks tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

EDITED

Had a run over on parts needed to fix her:

Front + rear wheel , rear wheel is sort of ok , front has a large ding in the RH side rim , which is clearly visible anybody know what other CBR600 wheels will fit (front) , poss £60-£200 replacements

Downpipes if can't fix the link pipe bit £195 + £5 gaskets

LH generator cover £35

LH clip on can't find any CBRFX clip ons £58 genuine only!

LH fairing = £35 reweld + £80 for touch up

R&Gs £60

indicators £60 (all four)

Clutch lever £5

LH mirror £20

Rearset /Gear change £50

a massive £738 to repair a £1850 bike,

I'm starting to think scrap her as its almost 50% of the value to fix it and I'll never get it back.... Crying or Very sad

EDIT fix price can be as low as £300 depending on IF the downpipes can be fixed finding lots of parts

Well the FX, and F4 are the same bike, and also the FY is the same just a year younger. All parts between these models should be interchangeable. What bits you need man? I've a few bits lying about for my FX.

Sell it on ebay!

Some one will by it for about a grand. Then go out and buy another exactly the same for about £1800. It's still cost you the £800 which you cant get away from but you'll have a mint bike again rather than a fixed one which will never quite feel or look the same. You never know you might sell it for more than a grand and then pick up a bargain after.

Furious scurrying around on ebay and BCFers says!:

£300 to fix, I think I'll fix her up and eventually by the end of my insurance period retire the NTV and use her as my commute bike,

Hurrah!

There are places that will repair the wheel. Don't know if it will work out cheaper but I used a place in Stoke to do my car wheels and it came to £120 for two.

A1 Wheel renovations of 345 Bilston Road, Wolverhampton (01902 871422);
www.wheelrepair.co.uk Preston, Lancs.
www.wheelwarriors.co.uk mobile alloy wheel repairers in Chester in Cheshire.

Someone on here was looking at getting wheels repaired but I can't remember who?

What about a Streetfighter/commuter?

Scrap the fairings and make it rideable?

Or is this not an option?

I already have a commuter, its just that the bits to make it ridable are expensive,

infact I sort of fixed the down pipe thing today with lots of swearing and lots of anger, I'm thinking I'll just fix it up

since all I really need now it:

Link pipe £20

Rear set £50 (or less)

clutch lever £5

LH clip on £9

Fairing repair £100

Wheel £60

Indies £10

Zorst tape £5

Bar ends £5

£265,

what fairings do you need, I have a pair of blue/red lyeing around.

why not just patch the fairing up yourself, until a cheap mint one comes up on ebay (I paid £20 for a mint side fairing)

FROM:

to

It didn't look pretty up close, but did the job perfectly well.

Lots of CBR parts about on ebay etc.

The FX is the same as the FY.. a lot of 01 onwards fuel injected F4i and F Sport parts will fit.

You would never get £1000 for it in the damaged condition so you made the right choice in repairing.. I bought a damaged F SPORT for considerably less, and I was going to buy a FX with some cosmetic damage and a broken clip on for only £400... CBR's are cheap.

You can get minty FX/FY's for £1800 or less now... I'm selling a mintyish F Sport with a small bit of damage to the rear fairing for £2k.. so IMO you'd struggle to get decent money for a damaged FX.

I think F Sport clip ons are the same as FY ones. Is it a left one you need? I may have one in the garage, I've used the right one though...

I also have a FX throttle assembly with cables if needed.

Might have some other bits, I'm sure I got some standard indicators somewhere, what ones do you need, front or back? left and right or just a left/right? I'll have a look later altho most of my CBR spares are on my van which is currently in the garage being fixed.

I think I got a standard exhaust coming too if needed.

It doesn't need a special tool...

The lower rear engine mount bolt goes through the

frame > spacer > engine < spacer < frame

Socket on the left side and a 13mm allen key bolt on the right side...

Theres a single bolt holding the rear shock to the lower shock mount. you don't need to undo it where it attatches to the frame so leave that alone.

You need to support the bike from under the exhaust on the frame somewhere to get the weight off the rear end.

take wheel out, undo shock mounts, take the lower rear engine mount bolt out and swingarm should fall free. then do the same in reverse to put it back together.

it's not that hard really. I'd help if you lived closer!

p.s make sure you mark the spacers up properly as they need to back on the correct sides.

CBR is almost completely fixed (I just need to put some washers and spacers back here and there and put the fixed fairings back on). Drain the oil and out on a new Generator cover which I have the parts for.

Bodged the zorst back on and sticking some HT silicone and firegum in the gaps and cutting some steel to make a new zorst support since the position has changed.

Took me 5 hours today to fix it including 2 to cut myself a Honda Castle socket , I thought sack paying £50 for a Honda tool I'll use once or twice, and I bought a £3 30mm socket and cut notches into it to make a castle bolt (cost me a £15 angle grinder too which should have been £25).

Also thought sack this to a £12 13mm allen key and made my own

Middle Finger Honda and overpriced tools!

Hmmph me cush drive rubbers seem to have gone missing though , me tyre man was the last man to touch it though.

last picture is of my snapped swing arm which I rode home on, (single sided mod for CBR? , really iffy since I hit the other end with a huge hammer and it didn't break).

Cost me £167 in total for all of my tools parts and fairing repair.... woot! , I came in at under £700 under budget!
