Is it possible for the test centre to phone you day before you (car) test and say you will not being have you test as your examiner is off ill.

This is what a frined told me im just doubting that this is possible as some people might have to book it off work surely the would have 2 find a replacement examiner.

totally true. i have had pupils turn up on the day and had the test cancelled. your mate was lucky he had some notice. They may phone up and give you the first option on test times that have become available.
If you have paid your instructor for the hour of the test make sure you get a claim form from the DSA to get the money back as the instructor doesn't need to refund any money. This is standard practice and not a rip off so the DSA are very helpfull.

wow i am surprised i have also been told that they should have a chief examiner that is there to fill in if this does happen.

So can you claim of DSA for loss of earnings?

I have not heard of anyone doing the loss of earnings thing but you can claim for the cost of your instructor on the day. As for the Senior Examiner, he/she may already have been allocated a test or is checking up on the other examiners for standards. he will fill in if he can but there is only so much he can do. Your instructor should be able to give you all this info or you can contact the DSA on 08700101372 for futher info.
