Insured my car with eCar lastyear as they were by far the cheapest, paid about £600, lovely, easy job done. Got my renewal through this year, same car, same details, only difference is i've now got 4 years NCB rather than 3. Renewal premium.....£1026!

Naturally they can go take a jump, however just for an explanation I've emailed them, twice, in 2 weeks asking why the ridiculous increase and what they'll do about it. No reply. God help me if I ever had to claim off them, certainly won't be using again, and i'm not paying 50p a minute to call them so they can rip me off some more.

Then onto Autotrader. Always been a fairly good site, but with the presence of the overpowering eBay it's presumably decided to push it's prices through the roof to make up for lack of sales to a cheapest option of £18 for 2 weeks online Confused Still, having no luck on ebay I gave it a go.

Wrote the advert out, attached loads of photos, paid, submitted. Next day it appears in the listings but it has no thumbnail photo so looks crap and doubt anyone would bother looking at it, despite all the photos being in the advert itself.

Unfortunately, also Autotrader have decided to revise their search facility, and broken it in the process. For my car you select make, then the dropdown box gives the model but only for the wrong years, despite it being a popular model. So you have to search "Other models" for it to appear. And if you enter a keyword to search by that also doesn't work. Somehow doubt anyone's even gonna find the car that's cost nearly £20 to advertise.

Emailed them too and waiting for them to fix it, that's assuming they can find the advert, because I've had no confirmation email with a reference code from them like I should.

So there you go, 2 useless crap arse companies. I'll revoke statements if they fix them, but somehow I find it unlikely.

Have you ever used www.saynoto0870.com - Get the normal geographical numbers for those expensive ones.

When I moved house, I spent hour on end trying to get things sorted with the Gas/Electric and Virgin Media (shudder), all wouldn't answer the phone. So I tried that website but every single number that was relevant put me through to a totally wrong department which you'd also spend hours waiting on hold for then to be transferred or cutoff, was worth a try but useless. Found an entry for eCar on there, might give it a go just for a laugh.

Just to mention about Ecar, I've had bike and car renewals through the post before now with quite dramatic increases. However all I've done is just cancelled the policy once it's expired and applied for a quote with Ebike/Ecar from scratch which has always come out as cheap if not cheaper than my original quote! Thumbs Up

I tried that beanfeast, tried a quote from scratch and it came out at exactly the same as the renewal.

Just for anyone interested this number 01454 634100 is for group direct and they'll transfer you to eCar so only costs you local rate.

However I think eCar customer service team is comprised of 5 year olds on work experience. After giving my details and my problem, and they're lack of apology for not replying to emails, I was put on hold while she "investigates" the problem, to come back with, our rates have gone up slightly and thats just the best we can offer you. Fucking useless muppetts Middle Finger

99.9% of companies are run by conscienceless scum who's one and only priority is getting as much of your money as possible and then immediately forgetting about you. Until it's time to screw some more money out of you.

Competition? Where there are nothing but different shades of getting the same screwing.

It's a harsh and pessimistic analysis, but it's accurate. Unfortunately.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Yep. Which is why non-company stars like me get so much business, a lot of it from referals. Laughing
